The Evil Dead franchise is far from dead! After the success of Evil Dead Rise in 2023, fans can rejoice – another installment, Evil Dead Burn, has wrapped production and is slated for a 2026 release. This news is a testament to the franchise's enduring appeal, as rights holders Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert are committed to delivering new Evil Dead experiences every few years.
Last year, they brought on Sébastien Vaniček, the director behind the French horror film Vermin (also known as Infested), to write and direct Evil Dead Burn. The film began shooting in July, and Vaniček has already announced the completion of production.
Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema are set to release Evil Dead Burn in theaters on July 24, 2026.
But here's where it gets interesting: New Line Cinema and Sony Pictures are co-financing the film, with Sony handling international distribution, and Canal Plus and Metropolitan distributing in the UK and France, respectively. While the plot details remain under wraps, Vaniček has promised a unique French twist, hinting at a fresh take on the classic horror formula. The cast includes Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two), Hunter Doohan (Your Honor), Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent), and Tandi Wright (Pearl).
Buchanan has teased that Evil Dead Burn is unlike any other film in the series, adding to the anticipation.
And this is the part most people miss... The choice of Vaniček to direct Evil Dead Burn aligns perfectly with the franchise's history of giving opportunities to emerging filmmakers. Sam Raimi, who launched the series with the original The Evil Dead, and Fede Alvarez and Lee Cronin, who directed the 2013 Evil Dead and Evil Dead Rise respectively, all made their feature directorial debuts within the franchise.
Evil Dead Burn isn't the only project in the works. Francis Galluppi, who recently made his directorial debut with The Last Stop in Yuma County, is also writing and directing an Evil Dead film. Additionally, an animated series following up on Ash vs. Evil Dead is in development.
